Kathryn Smith, RMT
I received my diploma of Massage Therapy in December 2014 from the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy. In 2015 I registered with the College of Massage Therapists of BC and opened my small clinic in the mountains of Valemount BC.
What can massage do for you?
As a registered massage therapist, I can treat soft tissue injuries in both the chronic and acute states. This might include: over-use injuries like tendonitis; nerve impingement and numbness; whiplash and headaches; joint pain and dysfunction; muscle spasm; decreased range of motion, muscle fatigue and stress!
As well as soft tissue injuries, an RMT can help treat physical complications that stem from pathologies and degenerative diseases such as Parkinsons, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid arthrits, Osteoarthritis and many others. Massage therapy is also an efficient way to assist with lymphatic drainage issues that occur post-surgery (eg. post mastectomy). Massage works on every system of the body and is a fantastic way to decrease stress and help the body recover!
A typical treatment includes a full body assesment, postural and ergonomic education and therapeutic exercise or stretches to give you the tools needed to continue your recovery at home!
